This Privacy Policy describes how CharlieTech ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Hmonglus mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide to Us

The Hmonglus App is designed to work without requiring you to create an account. If you choose to contact us for support, send feedback, or subscribe to updates, we may collect the information you voluntarily provide, such as your name, email address, and the contents of your message.

1.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you use the App, we and our service providers may automatically collect certain information, including:

• Device information: device model, operating system and version, device language, time zone, and unique device identifiers (such as advertising IDs where applicable).
• App usage information: features used, screens viewed, lessons started or completed, quiz results, session length, and in-app interactions.
• Performance and diagnostic data: crash reports, error logs, and performance metrics that help us keep the App stable.
• Approximate location: coarse, non-precise location derived from your IP address (e.g., country or region). The App does not collect precise GPS location.

1.3 Information Stored on Your Device

Some information — such as your learning progress, favorites, and preferences — is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly enable cloud backup or a similar feature.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the App and its features;
• Personalize your learning experience and remember your progress;
• Understand how users interact with the App so we can improve it;
• Diagnose and fix crashes, bugs, and other technical issues;
• Respond to your questions, feedback, and support requests;
• Detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues; and
• Comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms.

3. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA/UK Users)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we process your personal information on the following legal bases: performance of a contract (providing the App), our legitimate interests (improving and securing the App), your consent (where required, for example for certain analytics), and compliance with our legal obligations.

4. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers: We share information with trusted third-party service providers that help us operate the App, such as analytics and crash-reporting providers (for example, Google Firebase / Google Analytics for Firebase and Google Crashlytics). These providers are only permitted to use your information to perform services on our behalf.
• App stores and platforms: The Google Play Store, Apple App Store, and related services may receive information in connection with your download and use of the App, subject to their own privacy policies.
• Legal and safety: We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or property, protect the safety of users or the public, or respond to lawful requests from public authorities.
• Business transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify users of any such change as required by law.

5. Third-Party Services and SDKs

The App may use third-party software development kits ("SDKs") and services to deliver features, measure performance, and analyze usage. These third parties may collect information directly from your device as described in their own privacy policies. Current providers may include:

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Aggregated or de-identified data, which cannot reasonably be used to identify you, may be retained for longer periods. You can delete locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the App.

7. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect your information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, and unauthorized access or disclosure. Data transmitted to our service providers is protected in transit using industry-standard encryption (such as HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than the one in which you live, including the United States. When we transfer personal information internationally, we take appropriate steps to ensure that it receives an adequate level of protection, consistent with applicable laws.

9. Children's Privacy

Hmonglus is a family-friendly learning app that can be enjoyed by users of all ages. We take the privacy of children seriously and comply with applicable children's privacy laws, including the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and Google Play's Families policy.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction) without verifiable parental consent. The App does not contain behavioral advertising, does not share personal information from children with third-party advertisers, and does not use persistent identifiers for purposes other than supporting the internal operations of the App. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at [email protected] and we will take steps to delete that information.

10. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you;
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
• Request deletion of your personal information;
• Object to or restrict certain processing;
• Request portability of your information; and
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

11. Account and Data Deletion

The Hmonglus App does not require an account to use. You can remove all locally-stored App data at any time by uninstalling the App from your device. If you have shared information with us (for example, through support emails or by enabling an optional cloud feature) and would like it deleted, please email [email protected] with the subject line "Data Deletion Request". We will process your request in accordance with applicable law.

12. Permissions We May Request

The App may request certain device permissions to provide its features. Common permissions include:

• Internet / Network access: to download lesson content and updates.
• Audio playback: to play pronunciation and listening exercises.
• Storage (where applicable): to cache content and save your learning progress on your device.

You may be able to control or revoke many of these permissions through your device's settings. Disabling certain permissions may limit the functionality of the App.

13. Advertising

The Hmonglus App does not currently display third-party advertisements. If this changes in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, obtain your consent.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide additional notice (for example, within the App or by other reasonable means). We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed about our practices.
